Lelio Theatre has staged for many years the Puppet plays. On stage it was set up a quite imposing theatre for Palermo’s tradition.

Symbol of sicilian tradition, it proudly poses with its colours close to us, inside the museum.
Puppet fight
Here you may admire the representation of one of the many battles that take place during the show, our allied Milone is going to defeat a saracen soldier.
Puppetter art
Puppetteers hands skillfully manoeuvre the rods that move us puppets. The upper part of the rod has a handle that facilitate maneuvers, above it there is the hook that is used for storing us puppets at the end of the show.

His armor is a magnificent sample of sicilian craftmanship, metal is handcrafted with skill and patience in a way to reproduce the scales of the monster defeated by the warrior.
Charles The Great
We often see him as an old man regally dressed, here we have the chance of admiring him in full battle array. Despite the closed helmet we recognize him by the cloak and the blue plume.
Sicilian cart wheel
Even such a functional part as a cart wheel enjoys the same attention and details care as the whole cart. The bright colours and doodles decorate each ray and each hidden corner.

Our dad, founder of the museum, he has been and he still his the beating heart of the collection that is full of his presence.
Galafrone king of Indies
Father of the beautiful Angelica, with his clothing he shows his terrritorial belonging. Today’s multiethnic Sicily finds its own roots.
Saracen soldier
Even if bloody this is a perfect picture of how battle puppets are extremely realistic even during their deaths. It’s not uncommon to find more than one ebbed body during war scenes within the show.
Martino
Not all puppets are heroes or warriors, there are also ordinary people like myself and my buddies, with our strenghts and weaknesses, it’s the faithful transposition of sicilian population that in the old times was approaching to the Puppet Theatre.
Bishop Turpino
He wears the armor with the prominent cross symbol above the clerical garb, Turpino in fact, bishop and warrior, offers spiritual support to paladins, but at the same time he takes part into the battles and he is present in Roncesvalles.
Nofrio
I am the play puppet par excellence, between one joke and another, together with my buddy Virticchio, I introduce the public to what it’s going to happen.
Virticchio
My buddy, laugh endless source, he is a charachter that you can’t take a liking.
Gano from Mainz
Also known as the betrayer, he is a soldier that will cause the death of many of his companions. Virticchio doesn’t like him at all.
